"Is there a difference between your plan and God's plan for your life?" Image by Darius Bashar

Is there a difference between your plan and God's plan for your life? Of course, there is. Our plans are predictable. Working a 40-hour or more job and then coming home to do it again the following day. If you follow God's plan, you know it's an adventure. You need to say "yes" to him, and God will put you in a whirlwind of crazy you have never experienced before. But all it is a yes and a small step of faith. It will be scary initially, and you have no idea what to expect. You believe in a God you can't see, but trust that he is leading you by the hand.

My name is Annette Chacko, and I've been there, what I described on top. Back in 2016, I was working in the HR department of a non-profit. The company had a huge management change due to the mismanagement of funds by the CEO. I was called into a meeting with my supervisor, and she stated that the company was moving from Long Island, NY, to Wall Street. Wall Street - one of the biggest financial districts in the US. Also, where the New York Stock Exchange is located. God whispered as I returned to my desk, “You won't be going.” I was confused by the statement, but I left it alone.

A few weeks later, I found out I was pregnant. Now before this pregnancy, I was pregnant but miscarried. So when my husband and mother found out, they wanted me on bed rest due to the high-risk pregnancy. I could not say no, so I fought it. The human side of me didn't want to leave the workforce. But then came a day when things made a drastic turn at work when I did stuff for payroll, I did things a certain way - the way my supervisor told me to do it, but upper management didn't like it. I was annoyed beyond belief. I then decided I was going to resign. I still had that doubt and fear that kept ragging in me as a fire. “What if” questions kept popping up. I was so scared to resign from my job.

As I sat in the car one morning, still contemplating this resignation thing, a song played through my stereo system. “Because He Lives” by David Crowder and Bill Gaither (a remixed version compared to the original hymn). The song tore me to shreds. It made me realize that God has my tomorrow, my future in his hand, so there is nothing to fear. So that day, I gave in my resignation letter with a newfound faith that God knew what He was doing.

So as I mentioned before, my name is Annette Chacko. I live with my husband and four children. Life is filled with joy, chaos, and bitter-sweet moments, but I couldn't be more thankful for God making me a wife and a mother. I thank God for leading me to where I am today. It wasn't easy, and it still isn't. So come and join me on a journey as we walk with God, hand in hand. He will take you to places, that you can't even imagine.
