Promises

One day, I decided to take my son who is almost 3, and my daughter out on a walk. My sister decided to come with me. So I placed my not even 1-year-old daughter on her stroller, as my sister came down the stairs. She stated she would take my daughter outside, as I was finishing on getting my son ready. My son had a full-blown tantrum. He was screaming, crying, and yelling in his toddler’s voice, “I want to go out”. He was very upset that his sister was outside and not him. Then I heard God saying “This is how you are when you are waiting on a promise from me”. At first, when God said that, it flew over my head, but the Holy Spirit repeated it back to me about an hour later. It stung. Made me realize waiting is actually hard, and that there are times, I can put on a tantrum or even run away when a promise isn’t met on my timeline. When we are waiting on a promise, that God spoke over our lives, and it takes longer than expected, we start to get annoyed and grumble. We eventually start to lose sight of the promise.
In Numbers 11, we see the Israelites, they just left Mount Sinai, and were heading towards the promised land. God provided food for them, called Manna. I can only imagine how it tasted, probably heavenly. But did you know the Israelites were tired of it? They wanted meat. They grumbled and complained to Moses, and God got angry by Isreal’s complaining. Now God doesn’t get irritated that easily, but with the Israelites, He did so because they wanted to go back to Egypt, the place where God rescued them from slavery, so they can eat some fish and meat. So God was filled with anger. But God, who is also full of mercy and grace, was going to give what they requested. The Israelites wanted meat, they were going to get it. Now Moses, who was trying to be logical, was trying to figure out where was all this meat to feed more than six hundred thousand men was going to come from. In Numbers 11:23, it reads, “And the Lord said to Moses, “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not”’
Did you catch that? Did you notice that God stated that His promises will happen? Never underestimate the power of God. Don’t try to figure out how God will do something. Just have faith that He will do it. So in the story, God did come through for the Israelites, in the craziest way. A wind storm of Quil came the next morning for the Israelites. God may have been angry but He is still a God of compassion. If God says something to you, be ready, it will come, it may not be how you expect it. But He will show up, BIG TIME!
